When Perry Mandera graduated from high school in 1975, he had little idea of the impact he would have on the Chicago community. By the time he was 25 he’d already created his successful transportation business, the Custom Companies Inc. Alongside his business success he wanted to give back to the community he loved (WordPress).
Custom Cares is the branch of his business where Perry Mandera performs his philanthropic work. While it serves many sectors of the community, his favorite way to give back is to help disadvantaged kids. Because of this focus, Chicago recognizes him as one of its leading citizens and he’s highly regarded. So what has he done to earn so much respect from his community?
A Hands On Approach to Giving
Because of Perry Mandera’s success in business he has donated money to local organizations dear to his heart. While money is always helpful, he believes a more hands on approach can be just as effective as dashing off a check. He often mentors children, teaching them the life skills necessary to thrive in a harsh world. Perry Mandera also believes in the power of sports, and coaches athletics in his spare time.
A Philosophy of Compassion
What drives a person to give so much to help those less fortunate? For Perry Mandera it is all about paying it forward. The more successful he is in his transportation business, the more he wants to do for others. What goes around comes around, as the old saying goes, and for this civic leader he lives it every single day of his life. Through his work with Catholic Charities USA, donations to local hospitals and for disadvantaged youth he hopes to create a culture of success and compassion in Chicago. So far, it seems to be working.
