Daniel Taub is an international lawyer, a writer and a diplomat from Israeli. He was born in Britain in the year 1962. He attended Oxford’s University College, London’s University College and Kennedy School of Government, a constituent college of the England’s University of Oxford.
He relocated to Israel in the year 1989 and later served in Israel Defense Forces as a medic and as an officer in their international law department. From June 2011 to September 2015, he was the Israel’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom. Currently, he is serving as the director of strategy and planning at the Yad Hanadiv Foundation in Jerusalem.
Immediately after his arrival in Israel, Daniel Taub worked for President Chaim Herzog as a speechwriter. During Israel’s 64th birthday, Taub performed a song together with his wife and six children in honor of the country. Daniel Taub is a published author and has written widely about Israel and the Middle East.
His articles have been published online in leading news outlets including The Times, the Guardian, the Daily Telegraph and the Huffington Post. While working at the Israeli Foreign Ministry, Mr. Taub held several posts concerning diplomacy, legal and political matters. His expertise in international law and war theory made him fit for this post, serving as a legal advisor to the country’s United Nations’ missions.
He represented Israel in many international platforms in his capacity as the deputy legal advisor to the ministry of foreign affairs. In 2013, Taub received the Grassroot Diplomat Initiative Honouree for his work in helping young entrepreneurs.
Israeli Ambassador to the United Kingdom
In 2011, Daniel Taub was appointed the Israeli Ambassador to the United Kingdom, a position he held until September 2015. During his ambassadorship tenure, international relations between the UK and Israel immensely improved. Notably, bilateral trade between these two countries increased to 8 billion US Dollars.
This growth was owed to his efforts to improve international trade and relations while supporting business start-ups by young people. After leaving his ambassadorship office in 2015, Mr. Taub was succeeded by Mark Regev.
